This is not a petition to make drugs legal. Addicts normally participate in illegal activity, making life unsafe. Drug related criminal activity is clogging our Court and jails. In some areas over 50% of the inmates are incarcerated for crimes that relate directly to their habit. Incarceration is not the solution. Government has a duty to protect society by providing the addict with the drug(s) for their personal use only, as long as they do not participate in Felonies. The Government would then control the drugs use and the manufacturing. This will free up jails, and the monies saved could be used for rehab purposes once the addict desires to reform. As long as the addict does not engage in felony crime the government agrees to provide the drug(s), rehab, and no future prosecutions.
