President Obama and Congress, members of the transgender community are citizens of this great nation. We serve, and have served, in this nation's Armed Forces. We are doctors, lawyers, police officers, and every other type of employee. And far too often we are the nation's prostitutes, because we lack basic minority protections already afforded to other groups, such as preference in hiring, or tax credits for those that do hire us. As the transgender community dies in the streets from performing survival sex work and from having the highest HIV infection rates of any group in this nation, you and members of Congress do nothing to protect us, or create a better world for us. Transgender women of color are dying in record numbers and still you do not act. I call on you to act enact laws now!
