Create and enforce pragmatic federal gun control regulations.

Created by C.R. on December 14, 2012

We propose a practical set of changes to federal gun control.

1. Federal mandate that all owners must be licensed to own a firearm. Licensing should be prohibited for at least three years for any felony offense and permanently prohibited for any persons who have served more than three years in jail.

2. To limit transfer or illegal sale of firearms, firearm registration, like cars, should be required and must be renewed on a yearly basis. Owner and firearm must be matched. Disposal and transfer of firearms should be tracked as well. Transfer to non-licensed individuals or "loss" of a firearm without cause should be a criminal offense.

3. Comprehensive assault and automatic weapons ban.
