A large part of the gun problem in America is the NRA itself. It has become nothing more than a lobbying organization for weapons manufacturers and a voice for the extreme right. It should be replaced by a government funded organization called RGO - Responsible Gun Owners of America. Being government funded it would make background checks easier and the information more easily cross referenced with other government data bases. Should we ever be lucky enough to reach the point where firearms are licensed like automobiles this organization could handle that also.
