The Hoover Dam was created during the Great Depression to create work for those affected by the Depression. The time has come to revisit work creation. We ask President Obama to issue an Executive Order establishing a "National Infrastructure Renovation and Maintenance Organization" (NIRMO)
The NIRMO will:
-Be funded by a marginal tax on oil (producer side).
-Be charged with maintenance of the Nation's Infrastructure in coordination with the local and national Departments of Transportation.
-Be charged with inspecting the nation's infrastructure (independent of all DOTs). Where deemed appropriate by NIRMA, maintenance and renovation activities will be undertaken and funded by NIRMA.
-Directly hire thousands of the nation's unemployed in permanent, stable work.
