This petition brings an important issue to light: the poisoning and purposeful destruction of our nation's land. We are running low on precious materials; we are polluting our seas; in general, we are hurting our environment.
The future that we are creating for future generations is not sufficient. How can we sit at ease with ourselves? The polluted lakes and oceans house fish with increasing levels of mercury that will continue to rise until seafood becomes unsafe - would you be so relaxed if your children contracted mercury poisoning and it was your faults?
Our environment needs help. Create and/or make the existing environmental protection laws stronger. Enforce these laws. The land that we live and depend on will be better and safer.
