In the United States citizens with mental disabilities are abused, misunderstood, and misused by others. The pharmaceutical drug companies have a monopoly in the mental health system. Many psychotropic medications are developed just for the purpose of making a profit. Many medications that are prescribed to individuals with mental disabilities are very dangerous and harmful to the human body. The mental health system is CORRUPT bottom line.Poorly run mental institutions need to be shut down. Psychiatrist and companies should suffer legal consequences for their misdoings. Using medications should be the last form of therapy attempted when working with a mentally ill patient not the first. Awareness for mental disabilities needs to be implemented as part of the curriculum.
