Article V of the Constitution specifies, if legislatures of two-third of the states petition Congress for a constitutional amendment, then Congress must call a convention for proposing amendments.
In the history of our country we have never created a balanced budget amendment. The fact that the federal government can spend more money then they bring in, in tax revenue, is ludicrous. State legislatures petitioned for this once but never got the 34 states required... only 32.
My hope is that this administration pushes for a budget amendment. Something desperately needs to be done to fix our national debt. Where is the accountability?
I whole heartily believe that if the American people could vote on a balanced budget amendment, it would pass. Put it on a ballot
