Teacher contracts often violate federal labor laws that are given to most employees. Teachers are often not given adequate bathroom breaks, 25 minute lunches, required working hours well beyond 40, required to change student diapers, wash student laundry, given contracts that state they will work whatever hours a school board deems necessary, older teachers are encouraged to leave by harassment techniques that are well documented, evaluations are often based on unclear performance standards, the licensure board does nothing to protect teacher rights, teachers in most states are prohibited from striking, teachers get no vote in budget hearings so that money is funneled to administrators, lastly there is no "real" recourse when being harassed.
