Landlords charge ridiculous amounts for rent and expect even more ridiculous deposits and move in fees. A cap should be created and regulation needs to be established for the good of the every person seeking an affordable place to live. Caps could be created based on appraised property value, the true monthly mortgage payment due for the landlord (if house not paid off) and by imposing a general cap that rent cannot exceed a set amount, no matter what the property is appraised at. Landlords should not be able to get rich of off basic and critical needs of other human beings. Each and every one of us deserves a good and affordable place to live.
