Create a Charity for Consumer Debt Act that is NOT limited to just student loans, but also Mortgages, Credit Card, etc.

Created by K.P. on January 14, 2013

In the current state of our economy it's hard to find a job, but not hard to find volunteer opportunities and charities who need help. If consumers volunteer with local non-profits, like soup kitchens, homeless shelters, thrift stores or hospitals..then whatever wages that would be paid ($10 to $15 per hour) would go directly to approved creditors. There are similar programs in place for people with student loan debt, but there are other people, businesses and communities who would benefit from a "charity for debt" program. I suggest a pilot program with a few thousand consumers. A properly implemented and managed program would certainly help with the economy. Charities get motivated volunteers, creditors get their payments and people lower their debt and improve their credit scores.
