create a Climate Action Corps, like the CCC and Americorps, so citizens can help build climate resilient communities.

Americans want to take action in response to climate change but are uncertain what they can do to make a real difference. Waiting for policies and regulations to take effect is slow and does not satisfy the desire to personally respond to this looming crisis. Forming a Climate Action Corps (CAC), modeled on the Civilian Conservation Corps and Americorps, would give citizens a chance to contribute to projects that would make community infrastructure more resilient. The CAC could also be combined with college loan forgiveness programs and job training programs so it would build human/community resilience. This program could bring our nation together in a shared effort that would strengthen local communities while addressing the great challenge facing us today.
