American culture is dividing itself into those who prefer high-taxes/high-services government at the expense of individual freedom, and those who prefer low taxes, few services, and greater individual freedom. Federalism, as envisioned by the Founders, having been largely repudiated by the US government over the last 150 years, we petition the government to establish a commission to determine an optimal way in which to split the country into two separate countries, neither necessarily geographically contiguous, one serving those willing to pay higher taxes in exchange for more services and with lesser emphasis on individual freedom, and the other for those preferring lower taxes, fewer services, and greater individual freedom, both countries sharing a common military.
