It is a fact that greenhouse gas emissions produced by humans are causing the planet to warm. As polar ice and glaciers melt, sea levels will rise causing an alarming loss of developed land in low lying areas. Further, changing weather patterns will result in more frequent destructive storms such as Hurricane Sandy. Areas of our nation and others that were fertile may become unfit for crop production. Many species of flora and fauna may not survive the changes. By confronting the oncoming crisis directly and taking a position of leadership at home, the United States Government can help to lessen the effects, halt, or even reverse the effects of global warming. If we let the few who refuse to acknowledge the fact s drown us in lies and doubt, we may be drowning for real in the future.
