Create a congressional committee to reassess the classification of scheduled drugs according to the CSA.

Created by C.C. on December 21, 2012

According to the Controlled Substances Act (1970), Cannabis, LSD, Peyote, Psilocybin, BZT, and Cathinone are all classified as Schedule I Controlled Substances, while Cocaine, Methamphetamine, Phencyclidine, barbituates, and Opium are all classified as Schedule II drugs. Schedule I Controlled Substances must lack accepted medical usage, be unsafe when administered under medical supervision, and have high potential for abuse. The purpose of this petition is to force Congress to re-evaluate the appropriateness of the strict classification of the Schedule I drugs listed above, and consider stricter classification of other scheduled drugs. In addition, Nicotine and Alcohol are responsible for 380,000 annual deaths in the U.S., and must be considered for Controlled Substance status.
