Create a Constitutional Amendment Formally Establishing Separation of Church & State

Created by V.B. on March 31, 2015

With the recent passage of Indiana's RFRA law and similar laws in other states that intend to legalize discrimination and expand exemption of due process to anyone claiming a religious exemption, it has become clear that a dangerous segment of our society is determined to create a theocracy placing religion above civil law. While we believe the Separation of Church & State is already inherent in the wording and spirit of the Constitution of the United States, it is clear that at this point in our history, we need a constitutional amendment clearly defining and formalizing this important American concept. The Separation of Church & State Amendment will apply to both federal and state governments, prohibiting religious affiliation, practices, or views from taking precedence over civil laws.
