This petition is to urge the Obama Administration to create a national program to facilitate a careful and deliberate change to the Metric system (International System of Units).
Reasons we should make the switch include 1.) educating the American public on the Metric system which is used by most of the rest of the world, 2.) ensuring that America has a scientifically literate populace since science is conducted and recorded using the metric system, and 3.) to increase the competitiveness of American products and services on a global scale since most other countries conduct business using the metric system.
