In light of the recent difficulties experienced in launching healthcare.gov and the long history of poorly designed and difficult to use government websites; we propose the formation of the “Department of Communication”.
The Department of Communication will be a means for reforming the current, inefficient and fractured contractor based system in place for the creation of government based initiatives. By hiring and retaining a group of experts in the fields of graphic design, user interface design, web development, and IT security, this branch will ensure that the most current standards in these areas are upheld by developing projects in-house instead of by unqualified contractors that overcharge the government and cost tax payers far more than it should.
