Since their creation, the Emergency Services have been divided and their level of training varying by state to state. EMS for example falls under the DMV despite being medical. Fire Fighters have guideline training but the level of training is left to the the individual department.
Training amongst states varies and providers have different skills making cross-state emergency response difficult to impossible. A PA EMT would not be able to assist a injured person in FL, so on so forth, due to certification boundaries.
We suggest to unify the emergency services listed above under one department, to balance out the training requirements between the services, and regulate and reform 911 dispatch centers in a way that improves patient care, response times, and service to our communities.
