With an increasing number of news outlets, information about the government becomes distorted very quickly. Creating a 'Department of Information' will help federally regulate the dissemination of information so that the government can best communicate with its citizens.
If there were such a department that provided news for all US citizens, there would be no need to visit 'third-party' news sources first to get the government's official opinion.
Likewise, important government issues such as the NSA surveillance safety net and nationwide health care would not be distorted through a personal lens.
It is for these reasons that I urge the Obama administration to create a department that can act as both news agency and government spokesperson that will give its completely objective view.
