Create A Department of Space

A Dept. of Space with a cabinet level secretary will be a 21st century signal to the whole world that the US will lead the world in peaceful exploration and exploitation of outer space resources. This department will be a healthy counter balance to NASA's charter, accelerating vigorous private sector involvement and creating new, civilian, commercial space systems and infrastructures for planetary defense, space based solar power, high bandwidth communications for all across CONUS, as well as shepherding the activities of the global space community and emerging space powers, aligning their activities for maximizing RoI. This department will also spur and enhance peaceful global cooperation among nation states in a variety of areas not directly related to space activity.See Space News Op-Ed
