When the rich have gotten in trouble with the law they have been given reduced sentences or they are not punished at all as seen with the affluenza defense. We have also seen that when someone who is famous gets in trouble with the law they are given reduced sentences when an average American would be sent to jail. This is setting precedent that anyone would be able to get away with these crimes if we treat them like we would the rich or famous. We need to make sure that this does not happen if we create another class of American citizen that would include the famous and the rich we could continue to give them special treatment but still give normal punishments to average Americans.
