Create a DoNotText list similar to the existing DoNotCall list to help protect citizens from unwanted spam txt messages

Created by T.S. on April 12, 2013

We currently have the "DoNotCall" (donotcall.gov) list which helps protect us from unwanted telemarketing calls. We all understand this doesn't work 100%, but it is something that appears to have helped with spam calls.

This petition is asking the WhiteHouse to create the same thing for Text (or txt) messages. More and more people are receiving spam/unwanted text messages on their mobile devices which is not only annoying but can also cost consumers money (text message fees depending on the mobile phone plan they have).

They could even just add this feature to the existing DoNotCall list. When registering a phone number they could ask if it is a mobile phone and if yes, have a check box to include it on a DoNotText list as well. Should have been done long ago. Please sign if you agree.
