This petition is meant to promote discussion of reasonable gun control measures that are clear, fair and can be quickly implemented. The main ideas are:
1. Require by law that all rifles that have a magazine capacity of greater than 5 rounds be registered and stored at a police station or armory. The owners would provide a lock to the secure the weapon and can check it out at anytime for no more than 5 days. (The idea is that their behavior can be observed before gaining access to the weapon). Traditional hunting rifles would be excluded
2. Require by law that gun ranges log the serial numbers and check the registration of weapons as described in #1 and that they record the name(s) of the person(s) that use the weapons while at their facility.
