Silicon Valley has created many of the world's most innovative companies, and it's this model that the US government should mimic. We know the power of startups and entrepreneurs to solve problems in novel and innovative ways. I would be happy to see taxpayer dollars go toward supporting these sorts of startups.
The knowledge economy is the latest stage of global economic restructuring, and in order to meet our current and future fiscal requirements, the government should do everything it can to incentivize startups to accelerate job growth. Every agency could create an investment arm to seed a new wave of entrepreneurs ranging from the DOE to the DOT. This would democratize entrepreneurship, and would do far more to grow our economy than revising the corporate tax code.
