create a fat-tax similar to Denmarks, distinguishing between industrial junk foods and natural whole foods.

Created by S.P. on October 30, 2011

In early October, Denmark officials placed a tax on foods which contain saturated fat. The new tax charges the equivalent of $1.29 per pound on all foods which contain 2.3 percent or more saturated fat.

One huge problem with Denmarks' new tax is that if fails to distinguish between industrial junk foods and natural whole foods. Our new tax would exclude natural whole foods such as organic whole milk, cod liver oil, and certain nuts and seeds

We should also consider removing the sales tax on organic foods and vitamin supplements to encourage healthier eating habits.
