Create a federal carbon tax on fuels to fund mass transit, bicycle access, and pedestrian access and create related jobs

Created by J.I. on October 18, 2011

One tax that does need to be increased is that on fuels that are destroying the environment and our economy (by the importation of petroleum products). The US should create jobs with this revenue by using it only for alternatives to transportation, such as mass transit, bicycle and pedestrian access. If gas is expensive people will buy more efficient cars or use alternative transportation. We do not need legislation telling the auto industry how to make cars. Let the market decide. We do need to discourage the use of carbon producing fuels.
