Dental "insurance" in the United States is a joke. The best plans pay a paltry $1200-1500 per year as a maximum benefit and most procedures cost more. Many Americans can't afford any dental care at all--and as a result go for years without care until it's an emergency.
We can't depend on the Insurance companies to step up, there isn't enough $$$ for them to bother or we'd have better coverage. Therefore, we need a federal dental care plan for all U.S. citizens.
