The current standard legal drinking age in the United States is 21 years old. This age limit is ineffective and creates an unsafe drinking culture: not only for citizens under 21, but also for legal adults who never learned proper drinking habits. It is a well-known fact that currently underage college students still drink, but in an incredibly unsafe, hidden way. A drinking age of 19 would remove drinking from high schools, but still allow most legal adults to consume alcohol.
