Changes should be made to require for more stringent training in dealing with hazardous driving situations as a requirement for state driving licenses. Maybe not as a federal regulation but as a guideline for states to abide by and increase safety among drivers to lessen the death toll caused by drivers who may not be educated to handle said situations.
Regional training might be best for drivers who do not plan on moving. However, emphasis on driving in dangerous weather, ice, snow, heavy rain, and heat are not stressed enough. Too many drivers are uneducated in these very real dangers that are all too present within our borders.
More training should be implemented so that the training lasts longer. One year at minimum new drivers and once every ten years for a current.
