As citizens of the United states of America, it is our fundamental right and our civic duty to vote in our national presidential elections. We should take tremendous pride in this, and strive to not only to maximize voter turnout, but to make voting as simple and easy as possible for every American.
Depending on your source, America ranks somewhere between 130-140th out of 172 nations in voter turnout for national elections which is shockingly low. Recent elections have also highlighted just how difficult it can be for people to cast their votes in certain parts of the country, especially for those who work on election day.
Enacting a federal election holiday would encourage greater voter turnout, make the process easier for working people, and reinforce the importance of voting.
