Create a federal holiday honoring non-military innocent victims of war across the world.

Created by A.B. on May 27, 2015

We petition for the creation of a federal holiday honoring and remembering the innocent non-military victims of wars across the world, with the intent of promoting a more peaceful, military-free future.

Approximately 104 wars have taken place in the 20th century alone with countless more in centuries past. As a result, children have grown up without parents, parents buried their children, peaceful citizens have lived their lives with severe physical and mental damage, cities have been wiped off the face of the earth, and cultures have been lost forever.

The U.S. has 2 holidays celebrating those who have volunteered to carry out these wars during which we bestow honor and heroism on these deeds. A day to recognize and honor the civilian victims of military action would promote peace.
