Create A Federal Law Banning Cell Phones and other Communication & Media Devices in Schools

Created by T.W. on December 03, 2012

This petition wishes to draw attention to the fact that as technology advances and gets to the point where phones can do just about anything, the attention given to teachers in schools is decreasing. According to CellularNews.com, 42% of teachers interviewed have said that cell phones are a distraction in classrooms and can lead to conflict between student and teacher that wastes time. Students openly take out their phones and use them disruptively in class and the teachers can't do anything about them because parents say that they want to be able to contact their kids. Schools banning has not worked, but if there was a federal law banning phones in schools, we could give teachers a break and help students focus and learn more, especially those who already do and who dislike phones.
