The U.S. Is one of two only countries in the world that doesn't have a federally mandated law for maternity/ adoption leave for new parents. While some companies have policies in place, many in this country do not. This makes employees choose between family and career. Most of the time, family wins. This increases the likelihood of a family having to ask for government assistance because they get terminated due to lack of eligibility of FMLA or they resign. This country is based on family values, which start at home. I am asking you to sign this petition to federally mandate maternity and adoption pay for new parents.
