Over the past several decades the distribution of wealth has become increasingly disparaging, with more wealth being controlled by fewer people. An increase in minimum wage will make little, to no, difference. The top earners will not take these increased wages from their own pockets, but will cover it through price gouging and layoffs. A significant step in rectifying this discrepancy would be a maximum wage on the top earners of organizations. A ratio of 1:100 or 1:1000 (the top earner of a company could not make more than 100 or 1000 times that of their lowest earner) would ensure top earners could not line their pockets at the expense of their workers.
