Our founders stipulated the minimum age for President as 35. They did so because 35 is an age of judgment and prudence, which is why this petition seeks to create a federal minimum age of 35 to own/possess a firearm.
We propose that violations of this regulation be a progressive, fine-able offense and adjudicated in a similar fashion to drunk-driving DUI violations. Weapons would be forfeited. Fines would be assessed on any under-age offender regardless of juvenile status. Legal-aged individuals who provide or permit under-age individuals access to their weapons are also subject to fines and forfeiture.
Fines are non-dischargeable. However, the assessment of any fine would not permanently remove the rights of the individual to keep and bear arms.
