Create a federal “Minimum Living Wage” which is high enough to remove millions from government assistance programs. This amount may vary from state to state depending on the cost of living but somewhere around $12-13 per hour. Reducing dependence on government assistance would be a huge boost to our economy.
Create second “Minimum Wage" for those who can be claimed as a dependent by someone else but lower than the current federal minimum wage. This might be in the neighborhood of $5.00 per hour. Teenagers don't pay bills. This will help low paying employers keep their costs down.
Both wages should raise with inflation.
