Currently, as a nation, the United States does not properly fund public education. The largest expenditure of public education is teacher/administration salaries. Funding of education is left largely to local and state taxes. This creates a divided education system, between those schools district with resources and those without resources.
It is time for the United States to make funding of our public school system a high priority and assist those school district with federal funds to pay for teacher's salaries.
Therefore, we urge the President to support an establishment of a Federal Teacher Minimum wage of $35,000 a year. The Federal government would grant funds to all districts to meet this Minimum wage.
