Create a federal offense against anyone using an unlicensed firearm while committing a crime within the USA.

Created by R.C. on April 22, 2013

We have sufficient gun laws already on the record books to assist the lawful ownership of handguns, rifles and assault weapons. The enforcement of these laws, however, is not the subject of this proposal.

What we need is a federal offense to deter anyone from using a stolen or unlicensed firearm during any crime. Right now if you steal a stamp from a US post office (or any storefront attached to a US post office) you will be automatically charged with a federal offense.

I propose mandatory sentencing of life imprisonment without possibility of parole, and the death penalty if someone else is killed using an unlicensed firearm during a crime. This new offense would make every criminal truly think twice before using a firearm in any robbery, assault or domestic terrorism activity.
