Currently there is no system in place to oversee officer involved shootings. No data is regularly gathered on the frequency or demographics of these shootings, and any legal sanctions are undertaken by the same organizations that employ the officers involved. A federal body could avoid this conflict of interest to provide justice, as well as gather data to discover trends, provide training, and decrease the deadliness of these encounters.

Every citizen deserves to feel that the police will protect them. Please create a panel to ensure that the rights of racial minorities, LGBT, and people with disabilities are respected.
