I believe that home owners are not the only "class" of people that should be receiving tax benefits for their living situation. The high cost of living in the major job centers makes it very hard for the younger generation/middle class to generate any savings. Low income housing receives subsidies and tax credits. Home owners get tax incentives. Why shouldn't the young professional that is trying to save money to eventually buy a home or start a business receive a tax break just because they are renting? Creating a series of tax incentives for renters would allow these taxpayers to save more money, pay off student loans, be potential candidates for home ownership sooner, spend more money in the local community, etc...
Why continue to squeeze the hard working middle class?
