Being convicted of a single murder should carry a mandatory federal sentence of life in prison, with no chance for parole. If someone is convicted of murdering more than one person, the sentence should be DEATH. We need to make sure the punishment fits the crime. Stop allowing these murderers to go free after as little as 5 years, for 2nd degree murder in some states. Setting federally mandated sentences for murder would help by letting the criminals know that they will be held accountable for their crimes.
