Create a Firearms Tax

Created by R.N. on July 22, 2012

To create a Federal Firearms Tax would add another step to gun ownership. Easy access to firearms is part of a growing problem in the United States.

Each and every new handgun manufactured and purchased in the United States and those purchased outside of the United States and delivered to a United states address should be taxed annually and the proceeds of that tax sent to the state in which the firearm is kept.

These monies would then be used to better the background check system, supplement gun enforcement and provide mandatory firearms safety classes.

The taxation would also allow for abuses of firearms laws to be discovered and investigated in a prudent manner as well as grant other government and police agencies a tool to confiscate those weapons which are delinquent in taxes.
