Hawaii is the ideal location for the largest-scaled renewable energy demonstration project in the history of the world. It currently depends entirely on imported hydrocarbon fuels, yet has the greatest access to and variety of renewables in the U.S. It would be the perfect demonstration of the feasibility of renewables. If this change is ever to occur, then a successful large scale (statewide) incorporation of wind, solar, hydro, geothermal, tidal, wave, and hydrogen energy sources with a complete phase out of very expensive imported fossil fuels is not only needed, it is mandatory. Mr. Obama, make this your real legacy to the world. Do it now.
