Homelessness is an increasingly growing problem in America. 1 in 13 individuals released from prison will experience homelessness, increasing their chance of reoffending. 1 in 12 youth aging out of foster care will experience homelessness.
We urge the Obama Administration to make ending homelessness a priority in the second term, by creating initiatives to help veterans, the mentally ill, and youth aging out of foster care; and working with states and communities to identify causes and proactively work to prevent homelessness and offer hope and a future to America's families. Such programs should also include job training, placement, and relocation programs to assist families in ending the long term cycle of homelessness.
