Create floating Holidays.

Created by A.B. on March 05, 2015

Just recently, NYC announced that Islamic holidays will now be observed on the official school calendar. This is a great step forward, but I can't help but think about children of other faiths who practice Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism etc, who don't get any days off to observe their faith. Of course, we can't take away from children's education and lessen the amount of school for various reasons. What we can do however is: Keep all federal observances from Columbus day to Memorial day as well as Christmas/New Years break, Winter recess, and Spring break. In addition children should be given 2 floating holidays in which they can choose whether they want to take Jewish, Islamic, Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, or Sikh observances off.
