Too few Americans are able to save adequately for retirement, and many who are are thrust into a 401(k) system with extroardinarily high fees which can eat up 20% or more of a worker's retirement savings.
We must create a National Pension Plan, similar to the very successful Thrift Savings Plan for federal employees (including members of Congress), but which every American can join, with a defined benefit option, or a simple menu of low-cost investment options and the ability to create a sub-account with any third party broker in order to maximize your investment options.
And we must create an equitable system of financing this pension, that would not impose undue burdens upon employers and employees. For more details, see:
