In order to compete on a global scale and catch our counterparts in the rest of the developed world, the United State's internet infrastructure needs to be improved. The United States Postal Service has provided a backbone for the mail-based communications since it was established by our constitution. However, in the twenty-first century, communications are increasingly internet-based. However, many Americans are being left out of this leap forward as it is not profitable for private ISPs to expand fiberoptic or other high speed infrastructure into rural regions. Thus, for the benefit of our country, we need to establish an "independent establishment of the executive branch of the Government of the United States", in the fashion of the USPS, to provide high-speed internet to all Americans.
