The 25 year old import auto ban is an anti-competitive law that encourages monopolies among U.S. Car companies and keeps new technology from reaching U.S. Consumers. As this law was enacted decades before technology that allows for safe and efficient travel was implemented world-wide, this law now encourages a dangerous precedent of black market-consumerism and brings fewer safe cars to our shores. The European Market has newer safety standards that meet or exceed those here in the United States, and it would be beneficial to encourage both trade and cooperation between countries, as well as fostering co-operation between international manufacturers.
