Create an institution to make oil markets more transparent.

Created by P.L. on January 15, 2013

During the summer of 2011, the price of U.S. oil correlated directly with the price of gas. When gas prices rose to a national average of around $4.00 a gallon, U.S. oil began trading at over $100 a barrel. This period of time made it harder for most of us to commute to work or take a family vacation.

The Obama Administration should make provisions to increase transparency in the U.S oil markets. They should create an institution that would inform the American people, weekly, about the prices of gas and oil.

Undoubtedly, if there had been more transparency of the oil markets and U.S. oil corporations, more people would've had the opportunity to see such a crisis coming, and prepare for it.
